I worked here for approximately 2 years. Over these 2 years I experienced a lot of personal and intrapersonal growth along with making better decision-making and problem-solving skills. I learnt a lot of things about myself that I never knew I was capable of. Also, I learnt to make connections professionally. 

I have no words to explain about the staff and the management here. Everyone is so great that being a part of the team feels a blessing. The staff is super friendly and management extremely understanding. 

It's a very professional but also very family-oriented place where you can truly be who you are without any discrimination or judgement. And you can actually rely on your coworkers for moral support.

There are some difficulties like having to deal with some difficult people who can be rude but there's always support from the management in handling such situations which makes it easier to handle this hard part of the job.

Also, there are a lot of fun moments where guests can be very loving and kind. And it's a very diversified place where people from mant different cultures get together and make it one happy place. Recently,  the guests along with the staff celebrated Christmas and New Year's  where everyone had lots of fun. The best part is being here you can never feel lonely or away from home.

Working at Ocean Island Inn was a positive experience. A typical day involved assisting guests,  cleaning rooms and shared spaces, and collaborating with teammates to ensure smooth operations. I gained useful hospitality, communication, and problem-solving skills. Management was organized, fair, and very flexible, especially with time off and scheduling while I was still completing my studies, and they always welcomed me back, even just to work a few hours a week. The workplace culture was friendly, inclusive, and had a fun, social atmosphere that kept the work low-stress and enjoyable. The hardest part was handling occasional busy periods, but support was always available. The most enjoyable part was meeting travelers from around the world and being in a fun and supportive environment. Overall, a great place to grow and make fiends.

Working at Ocean Island Backpackers Inn & Suites was truly an unforgettable and enriching experience. From the moment I joined the team, I was welcomed with warmth and support by both the management and my colleagues. The work environment was not only professional and well-organized but also full of positive energy and genuine camaraderie.
The management team consistently showed appreciation for staff contributions, and they were always approachable and supportive. I felt encouraged to grow and take initiative, and my efforts were always recognized. My coworkers were friendly, fun, and hardworking, creating a team spirit that made every shift enjoyable.
One of the most rewarding parts of my job was interacting with guests from all over the world. Helping travelers feel at home and sharing stories with people from different cultures made each day exciting and meaningful.
Ocean Island is more than just a hostel—it's a vibrant community. I’m proud to have been part of it and would highly recommend it not only as a great place to stay but also as an incredible place to work.

I’ve been working as a Night Auditor and Front Desk Agent for the past 9 months, and it’s been an awesome experience. The work culture here is great – the team is supportive, the owners are genuinely understanding, and there’s no micromanagement, which makes for a relaxed and empowering environment.

The perks are pretty amazing too! From free whale-watching tours to a complimentary climbing gym membership, plus free daily dinner and drinks, it’s clear the company really cares about employee well-being. On top of that, I’ve had the chance to connect with like-minded travelers from all over the world, which makes the job even more fun.

All in all, I couldn’t ask for a better workplace – it’s a really rewarding experience, and I’m grateful to be part of such an awesome team.

The Ocean Island is definitely a great place to work. The management is very supportive and encouraging., the management operate an open door policy. So you can approach any one of them. They are always ready to listen and assist. The staff are friendly and courteous. It's like one big happy family working to achieve the same goals. You also get to meet diverse people from all over the world. You enjoy perks such as discounted meals and drinks, whale watching commissions, free and discount on tours. You enjoy work life balance. I also enjoyed the fast paced environment.

The management here was great, I wish I could have stayed on this team, but I had to focus on my schooling! This was a great job to grow my bartending experience. I had lots of opportunities to assist in planning events and pitching ideas for holiday menus/new drinks to carry. The team was great, and scheduling was very flexible based on your availability. No dress code, you have freedom to play your own music and movies at the bar (within reason) - it was a great job that I am very sad to leave!

Working at Ocean Island Inn was a great experience! While the work could be busy and tiring at times, the amazing team made it all worthwhile. The teamwork and organization from the supervisors and manager were outstanding, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The staff and employees were all friendly, supportive, and fun to work with, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. I truly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great work environment!

A typical day at work involves balancing tasks, collaborating with colleagues, and ensuring deadlines are met. Through this, I’ve learned the value of adaptability and effective communication. Management plays a crucial role in setting clear expectations and fostering an environment of growth. Workplace culture is pivotal, as it directly influences motivation and collaboration. The hardest part of the job is managing competing priorities, while the most enjoyable aspect is the sense of accomplishment from successful project completion and teamwork.

I've been working here for nearly a month now and I've loved every moment of it, I work as a Bar manager back in the UK and working at this bar in the hostel has been absolutely bliss, the bar is small but quirky and easy to run, you meet so many people everyday but the best part of working here is team, I honestly feel like I'm part of a big extended family and it's made my travels so much better. I highly recommend working here if you're a people person or even want to get out of your comfort zone and just work in a fun place.

you will meet some of the very best people you ever will in this building. from wonderful guests from all around the world to the most supportive team of co-workers and management who will stand by your side no matter your circumstances. it is a welcoming environment that shows no discrimination, and lets you freely express who you are. it can be hard work, but i always feel excited to help out people i truly do care about. 
a place that will forever have my heart!
